IIGCC produces regular publications in order to help communicate investor views on climate change to policy makers, companies and other stakeholders, as well as investor guides. Messages are developed in consultation with members through IIGCC’s programmes and are used to support individual and collective engagement on climate risk and climate policy.

European climate and energy policy

Statements are aimed at providing the investor view on policy frameworks and policies that are consistent with long-term investment objectives and will facilitate the move to a low carbon economy. Positions are developed by IIGCC and its members and communicated through a variety of means, including in-person meetings with policymakers and other experts.

Global climate policy

As part of its collaboration with other regional investor networks, now through the Global Investor Coalition on Climate Change, investor statements are developed to leverage collective influence of investors on an international scale. These help to facilitate a dialogue on investment-grade climate policy and barriers to greater investment with multilateral fora.

Investor guides are aimed at creating greater understanding of the risks and opportunities posed by climate change and climate policy for different asset classes, including public equities, private equity and real estate. They provide guidance on how these factors might be considered by pension funds when selecting or evaluating their investment managers and by investment managers in their investment practices or decision-making or in reporting to their clients.

Investor surveys

Now in its third year, the global networks have commissioned a survey of their members on the integration of climate change considerations into investment processes. The survey provides an opportunity for members to share and report on their emerging best practices on climate risk management.

Corporate Climate Risk Management

Communications to companies indicate the key climate change-related practices that investors expect companies to undertake based on an understanding of best practice management of climate change. Corporate disclosure frameworks provide sector-specific reporting guidelines for companies which will make it easier for investors to assess and compare the risks and opportunities posed by climate change and climate policy to individual companies.

Focus on real estate

Drawing on the expertise of real estate professionals in IIGCC’s Property programme, these publications describe risks and opportunities climate changes poses to this asset class. Analysis of the barriers and strengths of regulatory frameworks are presented to support engagement with policy makers. Case studies and toolkits on climate change also support further investor education on the issue.
