    Climate bonds: Sorting the wood from the trees

    IIGCC hosted a workshop with the Climate Bonds Initiative on risks and opportunities for investors in the rapidly expanding green bonds market. Over 60 delegates from major European asset owners to development banks attended and engaged in a constructive discussion on how to improve transparency, liquidity and the “additionality” of these bonds.

    IIGCC Climate Risk webinar – SWF-RI Low-carbon fund solution

    As part of IIGCC’s upcoming member education series on carbon measurement and reduction for portfolios, we will have a presentation on a low-carbon fund solution designed for sovereign wealth funds. The Sovereign Wealth Fund Research Initiative (SWF RI) has been investigating long-term investment and climate change since 2010 and has recently developed a Low-Carbon Low-Tracking Error fund.

    IEA special presentation on energy sector investment and climate change

    An IIGCC members-only presentation from the International Energy Agency (IEA) on their Special Report on Energy Sector Investment. This new research assesses current flows and future investment needs along the entire energy value chain in line with a 2 degree climate scenario. Insights on the strength of decarbonisation policies relative to investment flows will help inform IIGCC's public policy work and the latest climate and energy trends will serve as a resource for members' ongoing company engagements.

    EU ETS reform - A discussion on the MSR with market participants and European national experts

    This special roundtable discussion on the reform of the EU ETS was organised by IETA, CMIA, and IIGCC. It brought together business representatives from a variety of sectors who operate in the EU ETS (ranging from the financial sector, power sector, the oil & gas sector, banking sector, and investors, brokers, project developers, etc.), as well as national experts representing around 18 Member States. In total around 50 participants took part in this discussion, which allowed for an open and frank discussion amongst market participants and Member States, on the EU ETS and broader questions concerning the EU’s 2030 climate & energy package.

    Climate risk disclosures and financial regulation: A roundtable dicussion

    The transition to a low carbon economy is presenting fossil fuel companies with new challenges in how they report material business risk to investors in regulatory filings. Carbon Tracker, IIGCC, CDSB, Ceres and PRI, along with interested partners such as UNEP Finance Inquiry, are co-hosting a roundtable discussion to address this topic in New York to coincide with Ban Ki-moon’s Climate Summit.

    Carbon foot printing investment portfolios: for measurement, decision-making and engagement

    A workshop on investors' options for measuring and reporting the carbon footprint of equity portfolios featuring presentations from three different service providers who will share their methodologies and insights based on an analysis of a common sample global equity portfolio. Discuss experiences with fellow asset owners and managers such as the challenges of using carbon emissions data for different sectors, compiling meaningful indicators at portfolio level, and comparing carbon intensity against a benchmark.
